Catch up!

OMG, I've been terrible at keeping up with this!!! I swore I would do better and then I went and lied. Oh well. No time like the present I suppose. So, let's see where we left off...my week of trainings, etc. That was pretty basic. A lot of stuff we covered I had done for my last job, but some was new and the stuff that wasn't was kind of a refresher. It was nice to be "working" normal hours because training ran from 8ish to 5ish so I was home to spend time with AJ, eating dinner and chilling. It was so nice when Friday came because a lot of the trainings are draining - physically and emotionally. Friday was miserable weather-wise (it's been raining like whoa here) and work wise because I had my "tests." Erik actually texted me to see if I still wanted to go see d.m.b because of the rain, which, of course, I did! I didn't even care that we were on the lawn. Here is a pic of me and Erik (for more pics and vids, check my eff.b):

The show was awesome. Words can't describe. There is a def difference in sound without Le.Roi, but Tim was there and they played some stuff from Big Whis.key which is a great album. I really enjoyed the show. The rain held so we didn't get super wet and we just stood for over two hours, smoking cloves and listening to a pretty great set. I got home around 3 AM and crashed!

At some point last week/weekend, I talked to Iz and Kelly, too, which I def needed. I miss them (and most camp people) so much. It really hurts to think/talk about. I was outside tonight on my break and I smelled camp. No lie. During staff meeting today we talked about how we are taking the girls camping and I got so excited...then I got sad. IDK. I just can't focus on it. I'm not even talking to Curtis about it. Even when it comes up, it's quick.

Saturday was chill. I was so exhausted, but I had some stuff to do. Later in the afternoon, AJ and I went to the Chow.der Cook-Off downtown. We got in for free since we got there late and I took my admission money and made a donation to one of the animal shelters on the island. I got three really pretty bangles for it that are perfect for my island summer :-) AJ got the drinks and I got the ice cream. It was a fun little outing. We got back and hung posters in the living room and his room, then watched Ti.tan.ic and ate our dinners. He went out, I stayed in. I was still uber tired and I had to be in Bos.ton Sunday to babysit.

Babysitting Sunday was good, poor guy took a digger though and I was paranoid because his mom and I had been talking about head injuries :-( While he napped I rewatched some Tru.e Blo.od (which premieres this Sunday!!!). After I finished there, I stopped by my Bos.ton apt. to get my mail and a few odds and ends. I came back that night because I had a meeting Monday and AJ was having car trouble so I agreed to schlep him on Monday, which turned into insanity! I had to drive him to Lin.coln in the AM, pick him up in Cran.ston in the afternoon, which I could only do after rescheduling my meeting, then we drove to New Lon.don to pick up a rental car his brother brought over from LI. It was a long day, moreso for him than for me, but still long. When we got back, I went to a goodbye party for our friend Jeff who is leaving to bike the Continental Divide. Feel free to read his blog. I'm sure it will be an awesome trip. I'm jealous of the camping bit, but not the biking bit.

I started my in house training for work on Tuesday. I'll be working Tuesday-Friday 2 pm-10 pm, and Saturday 8 am- 4 am. It's an OK schedule because if I get out on time, which won't happen too often, I can still go out in town AND I have Saturday nights off which is a gift from my boss. Plus Monday nights off = OB's 25 cent wings :-D I love those so much and recall many happy Monday nights spent there. Anyway, in house. It's going to be a few weeks of this, which is good and bad. My first day there started with a chat with my boss which was both necessary and uncomfortable. I know she expects a lot of me and her first impressions, whether my fault or not, were not the most favorable. She isn't sure exactly how she wants to me to operate and what she wants me to do, but by the time I am on my own, she'll know better. I'm her first assis.tant man.ager, so it's new for both of us. The first night was really not bad, seeing as what I'm used to, but it was bad for the house, so I felt pretty OK with things. There is a lot to learn and a lot to be aware of. That is the way the field is.

So I've pretty much wrote too much. I'm watching the d.m.b special on Fuse and I need to get to bed soon so I can run errands tomorrow AM. After work Saturday, I'm driving up to Bos.ton to babysit Saturday night and celebrate Maria's birthday Sunday. I'm coming back down here Sunday with another load of stuff. I really wanted to see Craig this weekend for his birthday but I don't think that is going to happen :-( Oh well. It'll be a good weekend nonetheless :-) Most things are good lately.

First Night

Actually, this is my second night sleeping in my new house, being that I was here one night last week. I don't have a room, so my mattress is on the living room floor. It's only temporary since I've only sublet for May and June. I was going to put it in the basement, but the boys (our friend Sam is our sublet) didn't think that was the best idea. So I here I lay.

I spent the better part of the day in Bos.ton packing and cleaning. I left for New.port at about 6 and got here by quarter to 8. It took me so long because it was miserably rainy for a good chunk of the drive. I unpacked my car with the help of AJ and Sam. I had asked my friend Erik if he could come by and help and he did, only we had already unloaded the car. He brought his puppy, Petey, and we hung out for a bit. Eventually, we decided to go for a walk.

We walked around for nearly 2 hours, just walking through town with Petey. We got ice cream and walked, caught up and just enjoyed the New.port scene. It was nice. Erik had texted me on Saturday to see if I wanted to go see d.m.b with him this Friday night! Since I took him to one of the shows I went to last summer, he wanted to repay me. We're calling it an early birthday present. I'm so stoked. Something about Dave says summer, plus I always have fun with Erik. He said he'd pick me up after my training lets out Friday and we'll head down to Hart.ford. We may miss the opener, but I don't much care. I'm so happy I'll be able to see at least one show this summer. I'm pretty strapped for cash and I think God is smiling on me. Last summer, I had tried to win tickets, but to no avail. The day of his first Bos.ton area show, my friend Lara called me and had two tickets to sell, which I snatched up. Erik was the first person that came to mind for that, so he went with me:

The next morning, my friend Sean called me to say he had an extra ticket for the second Bos.ton area show and would I like to go! OF COURSE I SAID YES!

I got so lucky going both nights last year and this year I figured I could miss out, but now I don't have to!

So far everything is working OK with living with boys. When Sam is gone, I think it will be more different, but so far so good :-D I'm going to head to bed because I have my first day of training for the new job tomorrow! I'm sure it will be a lot of review, but I need to be fresh for a day of interventions and approaches. Sleep well!
